Treasury Directorate
The National Directorate of Treasury supports and manages the Government’s financial transactions, including the production of financial reports and statements.
Our role and responsibilities
- Facilitate the execution of the State General Budget
- Coordinate and supervise the registration of budget revenues, transfers of funds for paying budget public expenses and movement of Treasury operations, as well as the organisation of the current accounts essential for controlling those operations
- Centralise and coordinate the bookkeeping and registration of public revenues and expenditure
- Manage public funds
- Produce regular reports for the Government on Public Administration revenues and expenditure
- Draft the State General Account, in collaboration with other services
- Coordinate, update and normalise the system for classifying public expenses and communicate the classification criteria
- Issue and promote financial administrative instructions on the financial management of public monies
- Establish the articulation with the Central Bank of Timor-Leste within the scope of monitoring the monetary and financial policy
- Monitor the implementation and use of computer systems for collecting payments, and
- Establish guidelines for internal audit of all ministries to ensure that audits are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations approved and issued by government.
