In September 2000, all 189 members of the United Nations adopted the Millennium Development Goals at the Millennium Assembly.

Timor-Leste recognises that these goals, in the areas of poverty, hunger, malnutrition, education, health, gender equality and environmental sustainability, provide a real basis to greatly improve people’s lives.

Timor-Leste tracks the progress it has made in achieving these goals through a variety of indicators. Millennium Development Goal Booklet 2010 summarises the progress of the last 3 years. It also outlined the key improvements made and the challenges remaining in reaching each goal.
