Another handover of UNMIT Assets took place at the Obrigado Barracks compound II on Monday, 21 January 2013 and was participated by representatives of the Government of Timor Leste and of the UNMIT. The representative of UNMIT, Tom Soyer, who is also the Head of Information office and Communication, in this occasion informed that handover of UNMIT assets to Government of Timor Leste, this time does not only consist of equipments but also part of the infrastructure ( Obrigado barracks II with its furniture). The equipments comprise of 74 vehicles, 223 computers, and 2 generators. The Director General of State Finances, Ministry of Finance, Antonio Freitas, who represents the government said that ASSET Directorate has identified the equipments and the infrastructure and ensured that they are in good conditions, particularly the vehicles do not exceed 3 years of use as required by the government. Responding to journalists, Mr. Freitas informed that the government has decided not to buy new vehicles in 2013, instead allocating budget for maintenance of vehicles including these donated vehicles from UNMIT which are still in good condition. The distribution and utilization of these assets including vehicles to the government agencies will be decided by the government through the Minister of Finance who is chairing the Handover Committee. Besides Tom Soyer from UNMIT and Antonio Freitas from Government, other UNMIT staff and a number of national directors of the government also took part in the event, including director of ASSET Evangelina Guterres, director of Petroleum revenues, Monica Rangel and Director of Domestic Revenues Uldarico Maria Rodrigues.
