As the Fifth Constitutional Government took office last 8 August 2012, the Minister of Finance, Ms Emilia Pires and Vice Minister of Finance, Ms Santina Viegas Cardoso held three consecutive meetings with all Ministry of Finance (MOF) staff early this week. The first introductory meeting was held with the current and acting Director Generals of the Ministry. This was followed by a meeting with all MOF civil servants. The last meeting held was with all national and international advisers and consultants.
During these meetings, Minister Pires updated everyone on the Council of Ministers’ meeting results, highlighted some of the achievements of the Ministry during the Fourth Constitutional Government and delivered words of encouragement on how best to deal with each job during the next 5-year term of the new Government.
During these meetings, Minister Pires also formally introduced the new Vice Minister of Finance, Ms Santina Viegas Cardoso. Ms. Cardoso was the Director General of the Corporate Services of the Ministry prior to her appointment as Vice-Minister of Finance.
During the meeting with all MoF staff, Minister Pires also took the opportunity to introduce Mr. Francisco da Costa Soares, the new Secretary of State for Institutional Strengthening who was the Director-General for State Finances of the Ministry of Finance during the previous government.
