On 9 September 2011 the Ministry of Finance held the second computers handover ceremony at the ASSET Directorate from UNMIT to Government of Timor Leste. The Timor Leste Government was represented by Vice Minister of Finance HE Rui Manuel Hanjam, and the UNMIT was represented by Ms Francisa Kuwasa.
Out of total pledged package of 300 computers, the first batch of 60 computers were delivered and already installed upon the first handover ceremony that took place in ASSET Directorate on 15 June 2011. This second time another batch of 60 IBM computers were also provided to the government in the ceremony.
Besides the Vice Minister of Finance Rui Manuel Hanjam and the head of UNMIT delegation, other important entities also took part in the event including the Director General of State Finance, Mr. Francisco Soares, the Director of ASSET, Mr. Januario Gama, other members of UNMIT delegation, and staff of Ministry of Finance.
The UNMIT Representative Ms Francisca Kuwasa, said that UNMIT appreciated the Government of Timor Leste for this ceremony opportunity to take place as planned. She further said that the computers are selected from among those good ones and expected that they would be useful to strengthen human resources capacity as part of the government capacity building programs.
Vice Minister Rui Manuel Hanjam in his turn thanked the UNMIT for the handover of computers which are valuable gift for the government because the first batch of computers are currently in use for Free Balance training for the government’s staff, and informed that several computers will be given to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be used in the Secretariat of ASEAN.
