Handover of UNMIT Assets to GOTL in Suai

On 16 November 2012 another handover of UMIT assets was conducted in Suai. The package comprises of equipments of Regional Support Center (RSC) such as generator, water pump, water tank, office building with furniture, vehicles workshop equipment, medical stuffs and others.
The GOTL was represented by the SE of Administrative Decentralization Mr. Tomas Cabral while the UNMIT was represented by Mr. Clark Toes. Besides, several national and local entities including the DGCS Mr. Januario Gama and Director of ASSET Ms Evangelina Guterres both from MOF and the Suai district administrator also participated in the event.
Clark Toes, in his speech emphasized that the essential role of RSC is to support the operation area units like UNPOL, BPU, Military Aviation Group, STAE and the DGSU of UNMIT as well as Serious Crime Investigation Unit.
Mr. Toes also informed that a similar handover will be conducted respectively in Maliana on 30 November and 3 December in Baucau. He then appreciated the strong support and closed collaboration that UNMIT has received so far from the Government in particular from the local government officials during its mission in Suai.
In the meantime, the Secretary of State for Administrative Decentralization Mr. Tomas Cabral on behalf of the Government expressed his gratitude to the UNMIT for its important contribution and role in maintaining peace and stability in Covalima (Suai) district and also appreciated the donation of equipments to GOTL.
Mr. Cabral informed that the Government of Timor Leste will set up 13 administrative committees in the lead up to formation of municipalities, shortly. To this end, he assured that the donated assets from UNNMIT will be duly utilized as part of the required facilities. He then asked security assistance from PNTL and F-FDTL to ensure they are well kept before bringing them to Dili for reorganization and distribution. Ends.
